Sweet Sauvignon Blanc

Light golden color suggests the rich apricot, melon, citrus aromas that fill the nose. Sweet fruit is balanced by modest acid. A classic Sauterne-style wine without an oak overlay. Sweet Sauvignon invites drinking with dessert or complimenting flavorful Asian food.

A Botrytised 'Sweet Sauvignon Blanc' from Santa Barbara County shows the versatility of frozen juice. It is Brehm Vineyards' Sauterne Style wine, we love the rot.

13.0% ALC. BY VOL. - 375 ML

Price: $27.50 per bottle

More Grape Information:
2005 Sauvignon Blanc was grown by one of the true pioneers of Edna Valley (cool central coast), Santa Maria (his Chardonnay put Jesse Jackson on the map), and in the Los Alamos Valley of Santa Barbara County. Louie Lucas is now focused on Santa Barbara grape growing and wine, Lucas & Lewellen. We agreed to let a plot of Sauvignon Blanc hang very late in the season until a goodly infection of botrytis took hold. The first year's weather and gods did not oblige. The grapes could not get rotten. Now you start to know why this is special wine. We tried it again in 2005 and bingo. The grapes were pressed and settled at Deerfield Ranch in Glenn Ellen. The settled juice was sulphited and was put into 20-liter poly pails. After a year in the freezer the pails were shipped to Underwood, WA. They were processed according to the directions provided by Paul Rago's direction sheet (www.BrehmVineyards' winemakers help list) The fruit had sugar of 33.8%, total acid of 0.6% and a pH of 3.71.

The juice is available from Brehm Vineyards, wine available from White Salmon Vineyards.

Viognier

Light greenish-yellow color leads to a fragrant nose of anise, oak and butter. The wine is medium weight in the mouth with subtle oak scented fruit. Smooth heat and oak finish make a pleasant, lingering finish.

13.9% ALC. BY VOL. - 750 ML
Price: $12.99 per bottle

More Grape Information:
Ripe 2004 Viognier grapes from Suisun Valley were fermented and aged in small oak cooperage.
